Ray Blanco, Principal
My name is Ray Blanco, and I have the honor and privilege to serve as you principal at FJH. This is my 17th year in education, and my 4th in school administration. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and moved to Texas in 2016 with my wife Lizzy. Shortly after, we were blessed to welcome our daughter, Sophia, who is going into a dual language program in Kindergarten this year. I am a first generation American, born from Cuban immigrant parents. Lizzy is also Cuban, and we speak Spanish primarily at home. I am also fluent in Italian and American Sign Language. I served 6 years in the United States Navy as a cryptologist technician, attended Nova Southeastern University for my bachelors in psychology, Dallas Baptist University for my Masters in educational leadership, and am currently enrolled at West Texas A&M in my 3rd year for my doctoral in rural school leadership. I chose to come to Ferris because I believe that rural school students deserve the best we can offer in order to positively impact the challenges the world of tomorrow presents.
Shandra Sanders, Assistant Principal
Shandra Sanders is a native of Bandera, Texas and graduated from Bandera High School. In 2003, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Political Science from Lamar University where she played volleyball (Go Cards!). In the spring of 2019, Mrs. Sanders began pursuing her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Lamar University and completed her principal certification in December of 2021.
In 2008 Mrs. Sanders began her teaching career in middle school science in Dallas. She continued teaching science in Denton ISD until 2013 when she moved to Kansas and taught math. She returned to Denton in 2015 until her family needs took her to south Texas. In Bandera ISD and Northside ISD she gained experience in Educational Administration. She also has alternative education campus experience that she brings with her along with small and large district experiences and ideals.
Mrs. Sanders believes that strong relationships within the school and community are the foundation to educational success. She lives in Ennis with her husband (Harvey), three boys (‘Liam, ‘Drew, and Hank), and 2 dogs. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors camping, hiking, and kayaking with her family.
Mrs. Sanders is ecstatic about joining Ferris Junior High and the Ferris ISD family and serving the whole Ferris community.
Yanna Landry, Assistant Principal
Yanna Landry is a native of Dallas, TX and a product of Dallas Public Schools. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communication from Dallas Baptist University (Go Patriots!) and returned to DBU in 2012 to obtain her Masters Degree in Organizational Communications. In the spring of 2020, Mrs. Landry obtained her Principal certification.
After nearly two decades in the commercial real estate industry, Mrs. Landry’s love and enthusiasm for learning led her to begin a career in education in Arlington ISD, teaching at Barnett Junior High and later, Sam Houston High School. After five years in AISD, she accepted a position as a CTE teacher at Red Oak Middle School in Red Oak ISD. Over the last nine years, her course schedule has included Speech, Principles of Human Services, Interpersonal Relationships Studies, College and Career Readiness and Professional Communication. In addition to serving the needs of junior high and high school students, Mrs. Landry has also served as an adjunct professor, teaching Introduction to Public Speaking at Navarro College. She believes success in any classroom is the result of creating a respectful learning environment and building relationships through intentional, meaningful interactions with students, parents, staff and colleagues.
Mrs. Landry values faith, family, friends, food and of course, football! Her family enjoys football season where all five of these elements often come together with a Sunday dinner. She and her husband Marvin have been married for nearly fifteen years. They live in Waxahachie, TX with their three children, Evanne (Evan), Luke and Eden Elizabeth.
Mrs. Landry is beyond excited to join the Ferris ISD family and is ready to serve the community of Ferris by assisting and advancing our students as they work to create, pursue and achieve their goals!
Holly Foster, Administrative Intern
My name is Holly Foster and I am currently serving as an administrative intern at Ferris Jr. High School. I grew up in Bristol, Texas and graduated from Ferris High School. I have two amazing children, Tiffani, 26, and Ryan, 18. My hobbies include hiking, kayaking, working out, and other various outdoor activities. I also love spending time with family and friends.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor’s Degree in May 2009 from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. I have served as an elementary school teacher for the past 11 years. I will graduate with my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership through Dallas Baptist University in May 2023. I have an extreme passion for education and for helping students reach their highest potential.
I am honored to be able to serve in the same district that made such a huge impact on my education as a child. Teachers undoubtedly make a significant impact on their students each year, and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to make a difference as a teacher. I am embracing this new opportunity in the administrative field, and I am ecstatic to be able to expand my degree of impact as a future administrator.
